Mama needs a vacation.

I am now accepting invitations to beach houses, spas and resorts.

Life has been busy. I could put together a list for you of all our resent concerns, events and responsibilities, but then it would seem like a list of complaints. I’m not complaining. I’m just tired. We hoped that life would settle down once we moved to Tennessee, but God has decided otherwise. Instead, we’re finding little time for rest and recreation, and even less time for race training. OH YEAH. I’m supposed to run a half marathon on Sunday. Hmm. We’ll see about that.

Tami and Hayli have been here with us the last two days to visit Aunt Joyce, Brenda’s only living sister, who is in the hospital and not faring well. Though it’s under difficult circumstances, it’s always nice to be around family. The boys certainly enjoy seeing the people they haven’t seen regularly in the last two years.

This morning, as Tami and I drank our coffee on the back porch in the warm sun, Salem introduced us to a new friend, who looks surprisingly similar to his old BFF from Texas.

Honestly, what am I to do here? I DO NOT want another cat, but Salem keeps insisting by bringing around rag-tag strays who are too friendly to shoo away. As I type, I can hear the orange tabby meowing on the back porch. Once Jeremy gets a look at him, it’ll be non-stop, “But Mom, he’s homeless. He’s hungry and probably hasn’t eaten in months. HE NEEDS US. PLEASE CAN’T WE KEEP HIM?”

Bet me. The pleading will start immediately after school.

As for our vacation together, where are we going? I’m not picky. Give me five minutes to pack and I’m there.
