USA in Salt Dough

I know, I know, you’ve been WAITING to see this. HANG ON TIGHT. Cause it’s good.

For the record, I’m proud of my carving work. It’s all freehand, and while the landforms and bodies of water are not exactly to scale, the boys get the gist. Actually Jeremy gets the gist. Jackson ate graham crackers.

We labeled major things – mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, and deserts, along with border oceans and countries. Jeremy was most interested in the coastal plains and wetlands, particularly the Everglades, and after I told him it was like the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, he was all ready to go back to Florida and investigate. I swear I have a zoologist on my hands.

  1. I was wondering if you painted it and put the labels in when the salt dough was still wet or after it dried?
