Camp at Indian Boundary

On a great recommendation, we set off for Indian Boundary on Thursday afternoon. We haven’t camped since we went to Hyde Memorial Park outside Santa Fe (which was one of our favorite trips ever), so we’ve been very eager to go. October is the best time of year to camp in East Tennessee, so we got right to it. Indian Boundary is just south of us in Cherokee National Forest. (More photos behind the cut!)

This was our “backyard” for a few days.

We just love our tent! We bought it seven years ago when Jeremy was a toddler and we were embarking on his first camping trip. It’s served us well ever since.

Look at those sleepyheads! Football gets them out of bed.

Looking cute in my knee socks, I know.

Y’all know I brought the candy corn. Chuck brought the canoe.

We didn’t go camping alone either. One of our favorite families came along. We credit the Prichards with helping us decide to homeschool. We spend a lot of time together.

After our family of four canoed a bit, the men went out in search of fish. They came back empty-handed but I’m sure the trek was peaceful anyway.

There’s a three-mile trail that circles the lake. It made for a delightful and peaceful walk.

Popcorn made in a campfire is really good!

Books before bed, as always.

Married 12 years and still love running around in the woods together.

On our way home we made a detour to Bald River Falls. It’s simply breathtaking. It was just a quick six-mile drive or so off the main road. We truly live in one of the most beautiful places in the country.

This is the drive home, and when this is the drive home, I don’t care how long it takes.
