A Run-Down of the Fall Semester

Some of you may be curious to know what school subjects we’re tackling this year (Grandma), so I thought I’d give a quick rundown of curriculum and websites we’ll use.

First, here is the schedule, which is subject to change depending on the mood of the administration:

Schedule

Both boys are using Math-U-See again. Jeremy is in Delta, Jackson is in Beta.

MathuseeJackson’s history, Our America, is through Abeka, and Jeremy’s history, We the People, is through Center for Civic Education.

For science, we are all studying Zoology through Apologia.

Jackson has spelling and handwriting and has just started reading an adapted version of The Wizard of Oz. Jeremy is learning how to use a dictionary and thesaurus and just started reading an adapted version of Call of the Wild. He will also use the World of Language for grammar and writing.

For Bible, we will follow the Lectionary alongside our church guided by Sparkhouse, and for art we have signed up with Creativity Express. (So far, I am really impressed with that program!)

Websites we use for supplementing are:
Time4Learning
Smithsonian for Kids
AbcYa
BrainPop Jr.
Game Classroom
Spelling City
Kids.gov
Mighty Book
NeoK12

We opted out of Co-op classes this semester because, frankly, we are just too busy. I’m not ruling it out altogether, but for this semester, I had to say no. We postponed zoo classes until spring for the same reason.

As for me, this is my newest textbook. I’m really excited about it. SO EXCITED AND I JUST CAN’T HIDE IT. <—— sarcasm.
