Blog Challenge Day 7: 10 Favorite Foods

What are my ten favorite foods?

  1. Shrimp and Grits, but I’m picky about it. Don’t scrimp on the shrimp by giving me double the peppers.

2. Carbonara. Homemade, thank you very much.

3. Chips and Salsa, but I’m picky about it. Thin, crispy, salty chips with finely chopped medium-to-hot salsa. A side of guacamole doesn’t hurt.

4. Pad Thai with tofu, but I’m picky about it. Has to be spicy with a little extra sauce so the rice noodles don’t dry out. To date, my favorite Pad Thai ever is from Thai Arawan’s in Amarillo, Texas. Still looking for good Pad Thai in East Tennessee.

5. Canned tuna mixed with a tiny bit of Kraft mayo and a squirt of yellow mustard with cubed sharp cheddar cheese, Fritos, and a dill pickle. This is my go-to lunch. If I’m feeling extra wild, I’ll eat two pickles.

6. No bake cookies. Remember these from childhood? Cocoa powder, quick oats, a ton of sugar and peanut butter. Hmmm. I can only make them when we have company because otherwise I’ll eat well more than my share.

7. Crab wontons. When we go to the Asian buffet, I’ll have a small plate of random foods followed by eight plates of crab wontons.

8. Sushi, but not the crazy kind. I’ll eat raw tuna but everything else needs to be cooked or all veggie.

9. Prescription Strength Brownies. I’m not sure where this recipe came from but I’ve had it in my collection for years. It’s a fickle recipe that requires you follow the instructions exactly, but they are the best brownies I’ve ever eaten.

10. Thanksgiving dinner – all of it – piled high onto one plate so everything touches and all of your spoonfuls are a mixture of sweet potatoes with crunchy marshmallow topping, bacon and maple-flavored turkey breast, and dressing without water chestnuts, washed down with pumpkin pie and a cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer. Then a nap.
