Hello Humidity! (I’ve not missed you.)

I went for a run this morning at the Greenway and ended up cutting it short because my face melted off onto the pavement. It was only a mild 78 degrees, but the humidity was 5000 percent. Oh the things I miss about Amarillo! It’s a short list, but low-to-no humidity is on there. Of course, the panhandle is currently suffering from rounds of wild fires due to its dry climate and parched land. The pictures I’ve seen online are so scary and too sad.

Now that summer is officially here, we begin the routine of afternoon hibernation indoors to keep from dissolving into puddles of goo in the driveway. We can play outside in the morning and evening, but during the hottest part of the afternoon, we’re staying inside. Unless, of course, we’re at Splash Country.

To help bring the outdoors in, I’ve been picking up discounted flowers at the grocery store, stems and bouquets that are nearly past their prime. Instead of vases, I’m using glass jars (to reduce waste and because they are pretty). Large applesauce jars make for great bouquet vases while short, thin bacon bits jars are perfect for just a few stems. I didn’t realize how much I’d enjoy keeping fresh flowers all over the house.
