Minimal Christmas was a success. In confession, the boys did receive more than four single gifts, but in my defense I stuck to the categories of the Four Gift Rule. (One thing they want, one thing they need, one thing they wear and one thing they read.) Instead of one book, I got each boy a few books. (It was too hard to choose only one.) And instead of one thing to wear, they each got a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt. The thing they “needed” was a replacement Life board game and the thing they wanted was the Skylander Giant game system. They lost their little minds over that, which made all the minimal efforts worth it.
The only tears shed on Christmas were over saying goodbye to Timmy. He wrote the boys a goodbye letter, saying he’ll seem them next year, and poor little Jackson was heartbroken. After some comforting, we moved on to find the Christmas Pickle on the tree and began opening presents.
I hope you all had a marvelous holiday. Many blessings to you and your family.
Oh, how sweet! I love that your son thought so highly of Timmy. That was very touching.
