To the Oregon Coast

After crossing the border back into the United States, we grabbed sushi in Seattle for lunch and headed straight for the Oregon coast. We had reservations in Seaside, a quiet community just north of Cannon Beach. When we arrived at the hotel, the lobby was swarming with senior citizens. Seaside was playing host to the American Contract Bridge League District Tournament. WILD AND CRAZY NIGHT, I tell you. Retirees take Bridge seriously. They also take the continental breakfast seriously.

The drive to Oregon was lovely for two main reasons: 1) The clear sky was sprinkled with a billion bright stars, and 2) Our route took us through Astoria (Goonies never say die.)

The next afternoon spent on the Oregon coast was lovely for one main reason: It’s absolutely freakin’ gorgeous.
