Welp, our homeschooling journey is officially over! I’ve submitted everything, checked all the boxes, double-checked those boxes, and called it done. Jackson graduated from high school, and we couldn’t be more proud. His diploma should arrive in the mail soon.
Our homeschool co-op organized an incredible graduation event, which was meaningful and special in many ways. Not only did we get to see our son on the stage, but I could cheer on a dozen of my own former students and choke back tears as they gave speeches, accepted their faux diplomas, and turned those tassels.
Jackson is already enrolled in college classes for the fall, so his summer will be all about working and enjoying some much deserved time off. We are so stinking proud of him! He is the kindest, most cheerful person I know, and he’s bursting with creativity, my sweet humanities kid… He and I are kindred spirits in that way.
While many beloved family members are no longer with us, we were so glad to have my family in town to celebrate him. Jackson is the last of the four boys to graduate high school.
As for our homeschooling journey being over, I feel incredible relief that we’re done and pride over what we accomplished. It wasn’t perfect, and it wasn’t always pretty, but we were together and we figured it out. Had I to do it again, I’m not sure I’d do it all that differently. I didn’t miss a moment of their childhood, and for that, I’m forever grateful.
