What’s the meaning of my business name?
In 2010 I made a big leap from old school blogging at Xanga (remember Xanga?) to WordPress. I was also working on a freelance project that would signal the start of freelancing in general – writing, designing, and eventually photography. I really wrestled with what to call the site because I wanted it to reflect my passion for creativity but still be something identifiable.
My first thought was to keep it simple, to make the web address my name, but Jennie Miller wasn’t enough. I needed my whole name, my maiden name included, because Treadway was just as important as Miller.
Unfortunately, the three names together felt like a mouthful and the propensity to misspell both my first and maiden name was pretty high. Since Jennie is already a name I have to spell out for people, I cut out both last names and picked a verb that encompasses everything. I create all sorts of things – stories and images – but I also create memories, adventures, and, occasionally, trouble.
Jennie is who I am and creating is what I do.
