Anti-Climactic Update on the House

Really, there’s not much to update. We toggled back and forth with our very first offer and ended up in a stalemate. The difference between our offer and their offer was enough for both sides to fold their arms and call it quits. Or at least I think we’ve called it quits. No response generally means no deal.

While you’d think I’d be fully disheartened about the un-selling of our house, I’m not altogether discouraged. There are reasons that leave me content to stay in Amarillo a little longer, despite the big reasons I have to move back east. For now, we’re still here – still plugging away and making our time here valuable. In fact, today Michele and I began planning 2011 magazine content, and after pitching a few ideas to her, she asks, “Are you sad that you won’ t be here to see all of this happen?”

“Yes, a little,” I answered. It was a half-truth. I’m a lot sad about it. I’ll miss my work terribly. But the reality is that I miss my family a great deal more.

This weekend is Jeremy’s next-to-last flag football game and there’s a hot air balloon rally at a local park. (Did you catch my “first timer” story this month?)  We also need to replace one of our carved pumpkins. I had to toss Jeremy’s after it molded in a matter of days. It was a loss of three dollars, so I told him we could spring for another one.

It’s one week until Halloween. How in the world did we lose October so quickly?

Happy Weekend!

    1. Yes, Chriselda! I thought you knew! I’ll be leaving the magazine in mid-December and will head back east once the house sells.
