Well, hey thanks!

I got my “Year in Review” stats from WordPress yesterday and it appears that this blog has been viewed more than 12,000 times this year, and I only started it this summer. That’s pretty darn sweet of you, readers (and Mom). Thank you for coming back.

So today starts my first day of unemployment, or should I say, the first day of my new career as a freelance writer, editor and designer. However you swing it, I’m sitting here in my pajamas. That’s right! I didn’t even get dressed to take Jeremy to school. And why not? Because I don’t have to. (You’re not the boss of me.) That won’t always be the way I roll, but this morning we barely got out the door with all of our limbs. Winter break has been good to us in the Sleeping In Department. It’s hard to get back to 7 a.m. wake-up calls.

Speaking of waking up, the first thing Jackson asked upon waking up was, “I don’t go to school today?”

“Nope,” I said.

“Yay!” he said. “I stay home wif you?”

“Yep,” I said.

“YAY!” And then he danced a little jig in his footed pajamas and gave my legs a big hug. Going back to having one-on-one time with Little J takes the number one spot on the list of reasons to leave my job. We just spent the last hour together eating breakfast and playing Webkinz.

While I’m loving the casual wear and easy schedule (so far), there is a big part of me who would rather be sipping coffee and chatting with Michele right now. It’s going to take time for me to transition into this next phase, however long it’s going to be, and my hope is that it won’t be long. My days will be spent playing with Jackson, working on the book (three chapters left!) and training for my next half marathon. I’ll also meet Jeremy for lunch more often, which is something he asked of me today. I suppose it’s a good idea to take him up on his offer before I’m no longer cool.
